A battling performance in Aldershot earned Leicester City’s Development Squad their third-straight Premier League 2 point after drawing 0-0 with Chelsea at the EBB Stadium.

Following successive league draws at Southampton and Manchester City, the Foxes defended brilliantly against the London outfit to claim a deserved point.

It was Chelsea who came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first period after striker Ike Ugbo hit the base of the post with 26 minutes gone.

In the second half, Harvey Barnes fired over from inside the box, but neither side could find a winning goal and the game finished all square, with City standing strong in the late stages after Lamine Sherif had been sent off for receiving two yellow cards.

The Foxes had the ball in the back of the net after just 30 seconds, but Bartosz Kaspustka, who played 90 minutes alongside Yohan Benalouane, had his goal ruled out for offside.

Chelsea forward Jacob Maddox then hammered a strike into the side netting on four minutes, while Daniel Iversen held onto Mason Mount’s 20-yard free kick five minutes later.

Denmark youth international Iversen denied striker Ugbo shortly after, before Chelsea wideman Dujon Sterling stabbed an effort just wide.

The hosts continued to threaten in the first period and came just inches away from taking the lead after Ugbo’s curling effort struck the outside of the post on 26 minutes.

At the other end, striker Kairo Mitchell had a good opportunity of his own, but after latching onto Darnell Johnson’s long-range pass, he couldn’t beat Chelsea stopper Bradley Collins.

Early on in the second period, Iversen had to make a smart stop to tip Maddox’s deflected cross round the post, while centre back Elliott Moore put in a fine challenge to block Ugbo’s shot just moments later.

A good opportunity for midfielder Barnes followed, but he lifted Kapustka’s pull-back over from just inside the box.

Central midfielder Sherif was dismissed with seven minutes to play after picking up a second yellow card, but the Foxes showed their mettle to secure a point in Aldershot.

City welcome Tottenham Hotspur to King Power Stadium on Monday 24 October (7pm kick-off) in their next Premier League 2 outing.
