Leicester City’s Development Squad were beaten 4-0 in Premier League 2 at Prenton Park on Sunday in their third consecutive away fixture.

The Foxes headed to Merseyside in the hope of building on their Checkatrade Trophy shootout victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane prior to the first international break of the season.

But Steve Beaglehole’s outfit came up against a strong Liverpool side that included the likes of Danny Ings and Kevin Stewart.

It was Ings who opened the scoring with just three minutes on the clock from Ben Woodburn’s delivery, before Woodburn found the back of the net himself on 17 minutes.

Liverpool skipper Harry Wilson fired in for a third shortly after before setting up Ovie Ejaria to make it 4-0 inside the first period.

City were much improved in the second half, but couldn’t break down Liverpool’s defiant back line, with Admiral Muskwe coming closest after hitting the post late on.

Another away trip follows for City on Monday 19 September, when they face Southampton at their Staplewood Training Ground (7pm kick-off).
