City Sign Kane

The Tottenham youngster will go straight into the squad for City’s npower Championship clash away at Blackpool on Saturday afternoon, subject to his registration being cleared by the Football League, 

“He’ll hopefully bring more goals, a fresh impetus, and it keeps that competition really keen,” said Foxes boss Pearson.

“He’s a player that we know quite a lot about and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to secure him for our squad, and it will hopefully be a positive move all round.

“It’s always important that if you bring players in on loan, they’ve got to have a hunger for success, and I’m confident that we’ve got another player coming into our ranks that with bring a lot of positive qualities.”

Having come through the ranks at Spurs and represented England at Under-17 and Under-19 level, Kane comes with impressive pedigree, and could face a Blackpool team he scored against for Millwall during a successful loan towards the end of the 2011/12 season.

After joining Norwich City on in a deadline day loan switch on 31 August 2012, Kane endured a frustrating spell with Chris Hughton’s side, featuring just five times in a first half of the season disrupted by an ankle injury.

However now that the Walthamstow-born forward is back to full fitness he will be hoping to recapture the form that saw him net 10 times in 27 games last season to lift Millwall clear of the Championship relegation zone and win him the club’s Young Player of the Year Award in the process.

After making his first team debut for Spurs in a UEFA Europa League Play-Off tie against Hearts in August 2011, Kane went on to secure his league debut for Andre Villas-Boas’ Champions League chasing team earlier this season, coming on as an 86th minute substitute away to Newcastle.

The talented striker played a key role in England’s march to the UEFA U19 European Championship semi-finals last summer, and even scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win over France to ensure his country’s progress form the group stages.

It was the 2009/10 season that the young striker began to flourish though, in which he scored 18 times in 22 games for Tottenham’s Under18s before impressing in a loan spell with Leyton Orient in 2010/11.
