Pearson Upbeat On Schlupp Injury

City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed the weekend injury sustained by Jeff Schlupp does not appear to be as serious as he might have feared.
The young Ghanaian was replaced during the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers nursing a knock to his left leg.

But while Schlupp, 21, will not be in contention for Tuesday’s Sky Bet Championship trip to Bolton Wanderers, the injury does not appear to be a long-term problem.

“He doesn’t appear to be as bad as we thought,” Pearson said in Monday’s media briefing ahead of the trip to the Reebok Stadium.

“He still went for a scan, but hopefully won’t be too long.

“I’m not contemplating Jeff for tomorrow, but he’s in good spirits and Paul Konchesky is fit, which is good from that perspective.

“We’ll try to manage the squad as best we can now for the remaining games.”

The news will come as a boost to Schlupp, whose outstanding form at left-back since the turn of year has given him an outside chance of making the Ghana squad for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

The striker-turned-full-back was been capped once by the Black Stars back in 2011 and has been reportedly monitored during the second half of this season as he adapts to his new defensive role.
