Pearson Appreciative Of Fans' Devotion

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has spoken of the outstanding commitment of the Club’s supporters, ahead of Tuesday night’s Fans Fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Foxes boss has been hugely impressed with the backing of the Blue Army so far this season – support that has helped City climb to the top of the npower Championship table.

Nearly 4,000 Foxes fans were at Birmingham City on Saturday to see their side hit the summit with a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

And as thousands more prepare to take advantage of reduced ticket prices for Tuesday night’s visit of the Seagulls to King Power Stadium, Pearson says he appreciates the sacrifices supporters make to watch their team week in and week out.

“It’s a huge commitment for families and season ticket holders, for them to go out there and put the money up front to come and watch us play,” said the Foxes boss.

“It’s an expensive day out at home and away and we fully appreciate that, even more so in today’s climate when everyone is having to tighten their belts somewhat – it really highlights the commitment of fans to their clubs.

“I think it’s been noticeable this season that attendances have been down around the country. I don’t think we’ve suffered as badly ourselves, but our Club always tries to put together a fair way of doing things for supporters.”

While for many, attending games King Power Stadium will be a choice, for others it represents a regular pilgrimage to be part of a second family – the Leicester City family.

And Pearson says he and the entire squad have an enormous amount of respect for those that make the commitment to supporting them through every game, whether at home or away.

“I do appreciate that it’s an expensive passion and it is a passion because if you’re a football fan, it’s in your blood,” he said.

“Win, lose or draw, we have supporters that follow us and we do appreciate that.

“I think it’s important that clubs understand how the fans feel about things and it’s also good for us to do things that encourage people to come and watch us.”
