Signing Session Success

Hundreds of Leicester City fans flocked to King Power Stadium on Tuesday afternoon for the latest half-term signing session with six Foxes stars.
City supporters young and old struggled to hide their excitement as Leo Ulloa, Anthony Knockaert, Riyad Mahrez, Danny Simpson, Marc Albrighton and Nick Powell showed up to the City Fanstore to sign autographs and pose for selfies.

Many queued for hours just to get the chance to meet their favourite City stars, and for some of the players themselves it was a first opportunity to mix with the supporters since signing in the summer.

On the eve of a trip to Swansea for the first team at the weekend, there was certainly an air of excitement among the players and fans, and Club Ambassador Alan Birchenall, who is a veteran of many signing sessions, was delighted with the turnout.

He told Foxes Player: “It’s brilliant to see the youngsters here and it shows the new players the enthusiasm of City fans. Every time I’ve turned out for one of these and I’ve seen it get bigger.

“I like to see the new faces here. They know what a big Club we are, but it’s not really until you get to these signing sessions that you realise just how big.

“The fans just keep coming, and that’s the enthusiasm of the fans. Its great for the fans and for the players too, who get to see the passion the fans have for the Club. I love it.”

Summer signing Danny Simpson added: “The amount of fans that have turned up to see the lads is great and we’re happy to give them the time back.

“I remember when I was a kid I actually queued up like this to get an autograph from Roy Keane for his first book in the Trafford Centre. That was when I was on the other side of things and I always looked up to those players because I wanted to be like them."

Also attending his first signing session as a Leicester City player was Marc Albrighton, and he admitted he was impressed by what he saw from the Blue Army.

“It’s been a good afternoon,” he told Foxes Player. “All the families have come out with their kids and we’re more than happy to do stuff with them. It’s always great when the fans and the players get together for stuff like this and I think it’s brilliant.”
