Simpson Ready For Swansea Test

Defender Danny Simpson says Leicester City must execute their game plan when they travel to Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday afternoon (KO 5.30pm).
The Foxes face a tough test against Garry Monk’s Swans, who despite being without a win in five league games, have lost just once at the Liberty Stadium all term.

City’s opponents are renowned for their attractive brand of football, so Simpson knows that he and his team-mates will need to get it right on the night if they are to end their own run of three games without a victory.

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player, the summer signing said: “We know that especially at home they’re a great team. They’re a great footballing team and the formation they play gets the players into holes in dangerous areas.

“They seem to understand their formation well, so we’ll need to go there with a game plan and understand it collectively and individually. It’ll be a tough game, but that’s why I wanted to be back in the Premier League, for games like this.

“Normally from Thursday onwards we look at videos and the manager will show us the strengths and weaknesses of Swansea. Then we’ll go on the training pitch and try to take it from the meetings to the pitch.”

Simpson joined the Foxes from Premier League rivals Queens Park Rangers shortly before deadline day in August, and despite featuring in the second half against Crystal Palace, has been waiting patiently for his full debut in a blue shirt.

He added: “I’ve settled in. I’m in the group now and obviously the lack of playing time is hard. When you sign for a new club you want to make your debut and make your home debut to enjoy a bit of the team’s success.

“The team has been doing so well, especially when I first signed – they drew with Arsenal, beat Stoke and beat Man Utd – so you’re fighting for your place. It’s not just me, it’s the whole group.

“It’s good for the team and gives the manager a selection problem, but I want to play.

“I’m working hard, I’m waiting for my chance and that’s football. Ritchie [De Laet] has been doing well so I’ve got to work even harder to give the manager something to think about.

“We know that if you come in and do well the manager will stick with you. That is good to know so you have to keep on top of your fitness and keep working hard on the training pitch.”
