King Upbeat Despite Chelsea Defeat

City midfielder Andy King reckons the Foxes’ performance at Stamford Bridge on Saturday showed that they have the qualities cope with the demands of the Barclays Premier League.

Nigel Pearson’s side produced an excellent display at the home of title favourites Chelsea – trading blows with Jose Mourinho’s men for an hour before goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard gave the Blues a 2-0 win.
It was a valiant effort from City, who can take plenty of confidence from the scare they gave one of Europe’s leading sides.
And King felt his team-mates showed more than just the plucky spirit of underdogs in the capital.
“For the first hour we were brilliant, we played really well,” he told Foxes Player. “But you have to take your chances at this level.
“Chelsea have some quality players to start and come on and in the end they’ve punished us.
“I thought the all-round performance from our whole team was excellent, we really defended as a unit and looked dangerous going forward.
“We were the dominant side in the first half and should probably have gone in in front, but they’re a good side and they’re always likely to score on their own patch.
“If we can come to places like Chelsea and play like that, we can cope with anyone.
“You saw the chances we created today – if we play like that in the majority of our games this season, we’ll be absolutely fine.”
