Roberts Relishing Leicester Return

With Sellebrity Soccer set to take King Power Stadium by storm at 3pm on Sunday 6 October, there is one Leicester City legend who is looking forward to setting foot on the pitch more than most.

Iwan Roberts, winner of two promotions with the Foxes during his two-and-a-half year spell, can’t wait to get the action underway on Filbert Way and once again link up with the likes of Darren Eadie, Steve Walsh and Muzzy Izzet.

All are set to take part in the eagerly anticipated charity match, which is being played to raise money for both LCFC Foxes Foundation and Robbie Savage’s nominated charity, Alex’s Wish.

A host of celebrities are also set to appear, including the likes of Adam Woodyatt, Mario Falcone and Gareth Gates, but for Roberts, playing in front of the Leicester fans once again, combined with the opportunity to raise money for some local causes was a chance he just couldn’t turn down.

He revealed: “I think of all the ex-pros that are going to be playing, we’ve all had fantastic support at Leicester at one time or another, and in my two and a half years there, the support I got from the supporters was unbelievable.

“I enjoyed every minute of it. It’s only a little bit that we give back, and that’s never a problem for us, it’s just a way to thank the fans for the superb support we’ve had and raise some money for good causes.

“What I like is that the majority of the money that we raise stays locally. It will go to local charities in Leicester and I think that’s important when you get local people coming out and supporting you. It’s only right that local people benefit from the amount of money that we raise.

“I don’t get to see Walshy (Steve Walsh) as often as I’d like, and Muzzy is going to be playing as well – he signed just before I left and I played with him for about four or five months so it’ll be good to see him too.

“I can’t wait, It’ll be great to see some familiar faces though, I’m sure The Birch will be down there, Andrew Neville too, he was Club Secretary at Norwich when I first moved. I’ve got some good friends in Leicester and hopefully they’ll all come out and support what will be a very good game.”

Tickets for the fixture will be priced at £10 for Adults, £5 for Over-65s & 12-17 year olds and £1 for Under-12s, and all are available from .
