Moore Named In England U21 Squad

Leicester City defender Liam Moore has been named in Gareth Southgate’s 22-man England U21 squad for their two crucial UEFA U21 Championship matches next month.
The Academy graduate, who made his Barclays Premier League debut against Everton two weeks ago, will be in the group to face Lithuania on Friday 5 September in Kaunas and Moldova on Tuesday 9 September in Tiraspol.

The 21-year-old made his U21 international debut against Northern Ireland in November 2012 and also featured for the side in March this year against Wales.

Moore, who signed a new three-year deal with the club in the summer, has represented City at every level and has been at the Club since the age of eight.

He scored his first competitive goal for the Foxes against Wigan in a 2-0 win at King Power Stadium in City’s Sky Bet Championship title-winning campaign last season.

One of three Academy graduates to recently make their Premier League debut, Moore broke into the side originally as a right back but has formed a successful partnership at centre-half with skipper Wes Morgan.

England U21s full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Jonathan Bond (Watford), Jack Butland (Stoke City).

Defenders: Tyler Blackett (Manchester United), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Garbutt (Everton), Michael Keane (Manchester United), Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle United, on loan to Nottingham Forest), Liam Moore (Leicester City), Jack Robinson (Liverpool).

Midfielders: Tom Carroll (Tottenham Hotspur, on loan to Swansea City), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Jake Forster-Caskey (Brighton & Hove Albion), Will Hughes (Derby County), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).

Forwards: Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion), Tom Ince (Hull City), Danny Ings (Burnley), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Alex Pritchard (Tottenham Hotspur, on loan at Brentford), Nathan Redmond (Norwich City), Cauley Woodrow (Fulham).
