Pearson's Options Boosted Ahead Of Arsenal
City boss Nigel Pearson hopes to welcome back several of his players from injury ahead of his side’s crucial Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal at King Power Stadium on Sunday.
The Foxes host their second league game of the season having already put in spirited performances at home to Everton and away at Chelsea.
And with the Gunners next up on City’s relentlessly tough fixture list, Pearson is close to having a fully-fit squad to choose from.
The Foxes manager said: “Matty James won’t be available - apart from that we’ve got possibilities with more or less everybody being involved.
“Danny Drinkwater is back in full training and Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy are training with us.
“Matty Upson is of course the other injury but, apart from that, we’re turning our situation around – we’ve got players coming back and that strengthens our options.”
City will await international clearance before including Esteban Cambiasso in Sunday’s squad – the Argentine midfielder having completed his move to King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
The former Inter Milan star could be named on the team to face Arsene Wenger’s men but for now, Pearson will have to play the waiting game before he knows whether the five-time Serie A winner is eligible to play.
He added: “We will have to see first and foremost about international clearance – we have to wait for confirmation of that – that’s the first thing.
“He’s trained for the first time today so we’ll see how he is tomorrow.
“It would be nice to have him included in the squad, there’s no doubt about that – I think that would be a very positive thing for us.
“I’ll speak with Esteban tomorrow about his own feelings of where he feels he’s at fitness wise and of course we’ll discuss that as a group of medical staff as well.”
