U18s Report: West Bromwich Albion 1 Leicester City 2

Leicester City’s Academy squad recorded their second away win on the bounce after beating West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at their training ground on Saturday.

The young Foxes were on a good run of form having drawn 1-1 against a competitive Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing.
And the omens were good for Jon Rudkin’s side after an unbeaten start on the road, seeing off Southampton 2-1 and drawing 0-0 at West Ham United on the opening day of the Barclays U18 Premier League season.
Starting off on the front foot, City created a handful of good opportunities to take the lead with the best coming from the penalty spot after Danny Rose was bundled over in the box.
Rudkin’s youngsters couldn’t convert and they fell behind just before the break after a deflected shot beat the City No.1.
City burst out of the blocks and started bright on the second half with chances for Brandon Fox, Keenan King and Darnell Johnson to equalise.
Defiant as ever, the Foxes finally drew level just after half time as powerful forward King fired past Ethan Ross in the Albion goal.
And within the space of 10 minutes, City saw themselves go in front through Cedric Kipre, who lashed a volley into the net to make it 2-1 and seal the points for his side.
The Leicester back four endured a late onslaught from West Brom with the ball coming over the top on a number of occasions.
But remaining calm and composed, they absorbed the pressure and returned home with another three points on the board.
The win moves them up to fifth in the Premier League with a trip to Reading up next weekend as City search for their third consecutive away win.
