Academy Youngsters Thrive Off Team Building Session
- Under-18s manager Trevor Peake oversees proceedings
Leicester City’s Under-18s continued their preparations for the new 2015/16 season with a series of team building exercises at Welbeck College on Thursday.
With a number of last season’s Under-18s making the step up to the Club’s Development Squad for the upcoming campaign, there was a chance for the young scholars to make an impression among their new team-mates.
The young Foxes have been at the Leicestershire-based college since Tuesday as they gear up for another exciting term in the Barclays U18 Premier League.
Overseen by Under-18s manager Trevor Peake, City’s Academy stars took part in a number of activities to test their ability to work in groups.
He said: “Like last season, we’ve got a lot of local lads that have come through the system. Some of them have been together for a while, so they’re a well-knit group.
“It was interesting to see characters within the group, allowing myself, Matt Goodwin and other members of staff to have some idea how their brains work.
“The day started with some team building exercises where they had to negotiate obstacles wearing blindfolds before giving them some footballing situations that they had to analyse and come up with solutions to.”
City had a successful 2014/15 season, finishing seventh in the U18 Premier League, as well as becoming only the second ever side in the Club’s history to make it to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
