City Stars Answer International Calls

The first takes place on Wednesday 25 March in Denmark and sees them tackle the USA before a trip to face European rivals France the following Sunday in Paris. 

On the back of a promising Africa Cup of Nations campaign, Riyad Mahrez once again joins Algeria for a double header of friendly fixtures against Qatar and Oman. 

The winger was in red-hot form for his nation as they marched to the quarter-final, before eventually losing to tournament winners and fellow competition favourites Ivory Coast. 

Elsewhere there are two key games coming up for Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s side in the form of the Czech Republic and Germany, and City defender Liam Moore has been included in the 24-man squad. 

The first match in Prague on Friday 27 March is a valuable warm-up for this summer’s European Championships against the hosts of the tournament, while the Monday 30 March tie with Germany at the Riverside Stadium is also useful preparation against one of the tournament favourites. 

City skipper Wes Morgan is also set to add two more international caps to his collection with Jamaica, who face a double header of friendly games. 

The first, on Saturday 28 March, pits them at home to Venezuela and after a two-day rest, they must negotiate another home clash against Cuba on Monday 30 March. 

Meanwhile in the qualifying campaign for Euro 2016, Andrej Kramarić is part of the Croatia squad for a huge game against Norway in Zagreb on Saturday 28 March. 

Kramarić and his countrymen currently top the group after four games on goal difference from Italy, and just one point from opponents Norway. With a perfect record on home soil in this qualifying campaign, they’ll be confident of securing a win to extend their advantage. 

Over in Group B, Wales must do without the suspended Andy King for their home clash with table-topping Israel, but his City team-mate Tom Lawrence has been named in Chris Coleman’s squad. 

The game takes place on Saturday 28 March and could see Wales, who trail the group leaders by one point, leapfrog Israel into top spot with a victory. 

For Ghana, in-form City man Jeff Schlupp has been handed a call-up to the squad for two difficult friendly fixtures against fellow African sides Senegal and Mali. 

Both will be played at home, on Saturday 28 and Tuesday 31 March respectively, and will see the side attempt to bounce back from their Africa Cup of Nations final defeat to Ivory Coast earlier this year. 

City striker Chris Wood, currently on loan at Ipswich Town, has a trip to South Korea to look forward to with his New Zealand team-mates. 

The All Whites, who are building a team around some exciting young players, take on a talented South Korea on Tuesday 31 March. 

England’s qualifying campaign continues at Wembley on Friday 27 March, and while City don’t have anyone in the Three Lions camp, they do have a player in the Lithuania squad in the form of Simonas Stankevicius. 

England are six points clear at the top of the group while Lithuania lie fourth, behind second and third placed Slovenia and Switzerland on goal difference only, so a point against the Three Lions could be vital. 

Also in the Development Squad, Harry Panayiotou is set for senior action with the St. Kitts and Nevis at home and away. Both games are against Turks & Caicos and take place on Monday 23 March and Thursday 26 March. 

Midfielder Jack Barmby, who has recently hit form for City’s Under-21s, has been rewarded for his fine displays with a call-up to England’s Under-20s for two fixtures. 

The first sees them tackle Mexico on Wednesday 25 March before another home tie against the USA on Sunday 29 March. 

Under-18s captain Ben Chilwell is again away with England Under-19s for three European Under-19 Championship Elite Round Qualifiers. 

They face Denmark, Azerbaijan and France between 26 and 31 March in the hope of securing a spot in the summer’s showpiece tournament in Greece. 

England’s Under-17s have named Layton Ndukwu in their squad for UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers against Norway, Slovenia and Romania. 

He is their top scorer in the qualifying campaign so far, a will be looking to add to his tally in the matches, which take place between 21 and 26 March. 

Finally, Academy youngster Tomas Dombrauskis is also set for three outings for Lithuania’s Under-19s side away to Sweden and Russia on Thursday 26 and Saturday 28 March, before a home tie against Belgium on Tuesday 31 March.
