De Laet Exclusive In Saturday’s CITY Matchday Magazine

Fresh from signing a new four-year deal with the Club, Leicester City defender Ritchie De Laet now finds himself on the front cover of this weekend’s CITY Matchday Magazine.

The former Stoke City and Manchester United full-back committed his future to the Foxes last Wednesday, putting pen-to-paper on a contract which will keep him at King Power Stadium until 2018.
The Belgian has started all 11 of City’s Barclays Premier League matches, setting up the fourth goal for Jamie Vardy in September’s 5-3 win over the Red Devils.
Growing in confidence, De Laet admits the summer arrival of talented right-back Danny Simpson from Queens Park Rangers has pushed him to continue his hard work in order to maintain his spot in the starting XI.
Speaking exclusively to CITY Matchday Magazine, De Laet said: “The main thing for me has been confidence. You have to work hard in training, but knowing that there is a chance of playing week in week out at a high level has been huge.
“Last year and the year before, I had that opportunity in the Championship and I now have that opportunity in the Premier League.
“The coaching staff here keeps giving me the confidence to go out there on a Saturday afternoon and show what I can do.
“For me, personally, it’s good. With Simmo (Danny Simpson) coming in now, it keeps me sharp in training – and that sharpness is added to my game.”
