De Laet: Stay In The Game
And while much of the pre-match media talk centred on City’s last clash with the Red Devils – – De Laet and his team-mates continue to look forwards.
“We’ve been getting some results lately,” De Laet told Foxes Player. “And we’ve got a good cup run going now so confidence is good going into the game.
“It’s going to be a big game, obviously. We surprised them at home so hopefully we can do the same again over there. We have moved on [from the last game]. It was just one game. We got the three points, which is what we wanted at that time, and we want the same thing again on Saturday.
“Another three points can get us off the bottom, and the way we’ve got to look at it is that we’re only six points off 12th place as well. That makes all the difference.”
Manager Nigel Pearson said that his side will need to be hard to beat as well as creative in attack when they head to Old Trafford – sentiments echoed by De Laet ahead of the game.
He added: “Going to a place like Old Trafford, you have to keep your shape and stay defensively strong. You have to stay in the game as long as you can and with the pace we have on the counter attack in our team, it’s frightening sometimes.
“So if we have to go there, get a scrappy goal in the 89th minute to get the win, we’ll do that. “We dealt with them well over here at home, so we just have to go there and do the same thing.”
