Danny Drinkwater has underlined the importance of picking up a positive result against Watford in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday, but warned that it won’t be easy.

Both teams have enjoyed brilliant starts to the season, while the match could also see the league’s three top scorers all play – Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Odion Ighalo.

The Hornets won their previous two games by a 2-0 scoreline to underline their potential, but Drinkwater had already earmarked this fixture as one of significance based on previous meetings.

“It’s a big game this season,” Drinkwater told Foxes Player HD. “They’re a team that we looked at at the start of the season and thought they’d be around us, so it’s a six-point game really.

“We can get there (to safety) with what we’ve been doing and I’m sure Watford will be fine this season – they’ve proven their worth already. We’ll be going for the three points though, definitely.

“They’re a good team and on a good run themselves. They’ve got points on the board now too. It’s always been a difficult team for us to play against but we’re in good form and confident going into the game that we can cause them a few problems.

“It’s going to be difficult. They’ve got a great midfield and a great squad, but it’s just about getting what we do right. The gaffer has been working hard on that in training.”

One advantage the Foxes can count on is the support of the Blue Army at King Power Stadium, and Drinkwater is backing them to once again do their job from the stands.

He added: “The fans have been brilliant from the first game of the season - away fans and home fans.

“The atmosphere always seems to outweigh the opposition fans. The more they can do that the better it is for the players. That’s a big part of what Leicester is about.”
