After completing 90 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Birmingham City on Wednesday, winger Nathan Dyer says he’s hoping to make a swift return from his recent injury.

The tricky wideman joined the Foxes on a season-long loan from fellow Barclays Premier League outfit Swansea City on deadline day and made an immediate impact on his debut for the Club.

Dyer came on at half-time against Aston Villa in September and helped City recover from 2-0 down by netting the last of three quick-fire goals.

Strikes from Ritchie De Laet and Jamie Vardy hauled Leicester level on that day, before Dyer courageously beat Brad Guzan to the ball and nodded in with just one minute to play.

In that same move, Dyer took a knock to his knee and has since returned to training. Now, he’s hoping to push on after some valuable minutes against Birmingham.

“I obviously took a knock in the first game that I played for Leicester, so we’re just managing that and I’m trying to get back into it now,” Dyer told LCFC.com. “I needed to get some fitness in order to get back involved with the first team.

“When I got the knock [against Aston Villa] and got up, I only thought my head was hurting. Obviously it was a bit disappointing getting that in the first game because I wanted to kick on and join in with the boys.”

City have started their 2015/16 Barclays Premier League campaign in magnificent fashion, most recently beating Norwich City 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Vardy and Jeffrey Schlupp to move fifth in the table.

Itching to build on his positive start in a City shirt, Dyer was thankful to complete a full game as part of his recovery from injury.

He added: “I want to keep progressing following the start that we’ve had. It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt, so hopefully I can get back into the action.”
