Both Jamie Vardy and Andy King featured for England and Wales respectively on Monday night as both nations advanced to the knockout stages of Euro 2016.

Vardy played 90 minutes for England in their Group B clash with Slovakia but it was to be a frustrating night for the Three Lions, who needed to win to guarantee top spot in the group.

A defence led by Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel kept Vardy and co. at bay in a game they dominated, but one that ultimately ended 0-0, although still guaranteeing progress to the knockout stages.

England’s draw meant that Wales had to opportunity to take top spot with a win over Russia, who they ultimately made short work of with an emphatic 3-0 victory.

Goals from Aaron Ramsey, Neil Taylor and Gareth Bale did the damage in Toulouse in a match that also saw King make his tournament debut – coming on as a 76th minute substitute for Joe Ledley.

Wales will now face the third placed team form either Group A, C or D – currently Albania, Northern Ireland and Czech Republic.

England meanwhile will play on Monday night against the second placed team from Group F, which could be Hungary, Iceland, Portugal and Austria.
