FA Youth Cup Preview: Leicester City vs. Manchester City

Read a full match preview of Leicester City's FA Youth Cup Semi-Final Second Leg against Manchester City on Wednesday 8 April (KO 7.45pm) at King Power Stadium.

Just 90 minutes stand between Leicester City and the FA Youth Cup Final when they take on Manchester City at King Power Stadium on Wednesday night (KO 7.45pm).

The team have performed brilliantly to become only the second Leicester side to reach the final four, and they will need to be at their best again if they are to upset the odds and become the Club’s first FA Youth Cup finalists.

They will need to overcome a 3-0 first leg defeat to reach the final – a scenario that played itself out against Brighton at the weekend. Having gone 3-0 down, the Foxes rallied to eventually run out 4-3 winners.

Trevor Peake’s side have so far beaten Wigan Athletic, Chesterfield, Southampton and Birmingham City en route to their meeting with Manchester City in the semi-finals.

Standing in Leicester City’s way at King Power Stadium on Wednesday evening will be the formidable opposition of Manchester City, who will be looking for a repeat performance from their 3-0 first leg win.

The Citizens’ result in the quarter-finals will have given the Foxes plenty of food for thought after they emphatically disposed of a talented Crewe Alexandra side 6-1 on home soil to raise hopes of a repeat of their 2008 triumph in the competition.

Prior to the win over Crewe, Manchester City overcame challenges from Oxford United, Coventry City and Stoke City – all three impressive victories coming on home soil.

In a positive omen for the Foxes, last time out Man City were beaten 4-3 at home by West Bromwich Albion – letting 2-0 lead slip.
