FIXTURE RELEASE: Leicester’s Last Five Trips To Hull

lcfc.com looks back at our five most recent trips to our first opponents in the 2016/17 Premier League season...

The countdown to the 2016/17 Premier League season is now on, after clubs discovered their roadmaps for the campaign on Fixture Release Day.
Champions Leicester City will begin the defence of their title with a trip to newly promoted Hull City on the weekend of 13/14 August, hoping to continue one of the greatest sporting stories ever told.
It will be only the second time in five seasons that the Foxes have opened a campaign on the road, against a club with whom we share an extremely tight head-to-head record.
Here, lcfc.com takes a look back through our last five visits to the home of the Tigers…
27 October, 2015
League Cup Fourth Round
Hull City 1 Leicester City 1 AET (Hull won 5-4 on pens)
A meeting between a Tigers side that had impressively set out their promotion credentials and the Premier League’s early surprise package generated considerable interest in the fourth round of the League Cup and a predictably tight affair ensued.
After a goalless 90 minutes, a much-changed Foxes side landed the first blow in extra time, with Riyad Mahrez rolling home smartly after Jamie Vardy had been denied. But the lead lasted barely five minutes, as Abel Hernandez levelled from close-range.
Penalties were required to determine a winner and while Hull managed to convert all five of their spot-kicks, Mahrez was denied to send the hosts into round five.

Premier League
Hull City 0 Leicester City 1
Leicester travelled to Humberside looking to end a run of 13 Premier League games without a win in their final game of 2014 and came away with a big three points against a relegation rival.
Cagey early stages were broken down shortly after the half-hour, as a brilliant individual goal from Riyad Mahrez broke the deadlock in Leicester’s favour.
Hull laid siege to the Foxes goal during the second half, forcing a string of fine saves from goalkeeper Ben Hamer, who performed superbly in a heroic Leicester rear-guard. The win was one of earliest sparks that would keep City in contention for Premier League survival, which they achieved with a dramatic end-of-season escape.

Football League Championship
Hull City 0 Leicester City 0
Despite a promising start to the 2012/13 campaign, Leicester’s promotion credentials were under examination following a run of one win in five games ahead of a trip to fellow promotion chasers Hull on Boxing Day.
Nigel Pearson’s men responded with a gritty, resolute display to resist the Tigers and secure a hard-fought point that halted a brief slide in its tracks.
The Foxes went on to win their next five league games to re-establish themselves in the race for the Premier League.
3 December, 2011
Football League Championship
Hull City 2 Leicester City 1
A trip to face his former club was always likely to be a big challenge for Nigel Pearson’s Leicester City in the early weeks following his return to King Power Stadium – a challenge made all the more difficult by an early dismissal at the KC Stadium.
Matt Mills was sent off in conceding a penalty on the half-hour, which was duly converted by former Fox Matty Fryatt, but Leicester showed character in bouncing back – Paul Konchesky curling home superbly before half-time.
But as the final whistle and an unlikely, hard-fought point beckoned, the Foxes were denied by Robert Koren’s well-struck winner two minutes from time.
1 January, 2011
Football League Championship
Hull City 0 Leicester City 1
The Sven Goran Eriksson regime appeared to be gathering pace as the Foxes kicked off 2011 with a win at the KC Stadium.
Darius Vassell’s eye-catching early volley won the points in a bruising encounter, which saw Manchester City loanee Greg Cunningham sustain a serious injury and Hull’s Liam Rosenior sent off in the second half.
OVERALL HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD (LEAGUE IN BRACKETS)
LEICESTER WINS: 26 (22)
DRAWS: 24 (21)
HULL WINS: 28 (27)
