It’s no secret that Leicester City is a happy place to be at the moment, but Claudio Ranieri reckons that the feeling of electricity throughout the Club is spreading.

Performances continue to reach new levels for the Foxes and after a thrilling 3-2 victory away at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon, they now sit third in the Barclays Premier League table.

Their tally of 22 points is a mark they didn’t reach until March last season, and for Ranieri, the good feeling around the Club extends far beyond himself and the players.

He said: “I have a very good feeling, not just with the strikers or [Jamie] Vardy, I feel very good in Leicester with the Club, the Chairman, the family of the Chairman, the staff, the players, all our fans – it’s fantastic. There’s a good electricity. I’m a very lucky man to have come here.”

For the sixth time this season the Foxes were required to call upon their great resilience against West Brom, having fallen 1-0 down to a Salomon Rondon goal. However with a half-time team talk from Ranieri in their ears, the team quickly scored three times.

Two of those came from the irrepressible Riyad Mahrez while Jamie Vardy added a third – the eighth consecutive league game he has scored in – to make it 3-1.

Rickie Lambert’s penalty did give the Baggies brief hope, but it wasn’t to be as the headlines and the points belonged to City and their two goalscorers on the day – Vardy and Mahrez.

“Jamie is a very good player that works hard for the team,” Ranieri said of the Premier League’s top scorer. “If he scores goals as part of his job, I’m very happy with him. He’s in good condition now, everything he makes is good and that’s important for his career.

“Every striker is different and Jamie is different too. He had to wait to start his career because he came from non-league, but it’s not too late for him to arrive at a high level.

“Mahrez is a fantastic player. When I put him on the bench, it was just to help him recover. He’s an important player for us.”
