Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs felt his side deserved nothing less than three points from the Barclays Premier League clash at Swansea City on Saturday.

A perfect hat-trick from Riyad Mahrez sealed a 3-0 win for the Foxes to move them top of the Premier League table after 15 games.

It was not only a game in which City’s attacking talent flourished though, as Claudio Ranieri’s outfit put in a stellar defensive display to earn their third clean sheet of the season.

“It was well deserved,” Fuchs told Foxes Player HD after the win. “I think in the first half we should have scored a few more goals and not just two. The game still had tension and we had to be aware that Swansea are playing really well at home.

“We fought and we knew ahead of the game that it was going to be tough. They’re playing really good football. We wanted it more than them and that’s why the victory was well deserved.

“We were really concentrated. I think we had a really good shape between the lines – everybody was working for everybody. That’s how we play and that’s what’s making us strong.

We’re on a good streak and we’re having fun playing every game. When you play like that, of course it’s fun.”

The Foxes were 2-0 up at the break thanks to Mahrez’s first half double, but Swansea emerged a more dangerous side after half-time, as Garry Monk’s men hit the bar through Ki Sung-Yeung and the post through Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Explaining how those to chances for the hosts served as a reason to operate at a higher intensity, Fuchs added: “They had a header against the bar which was kind of a wake-up call for us because we knew we could not sit back and only rest on those two goals.

“We had to do more and we again had a few chances in the second half and we made the third goal. Riyad scored his hat-trick so we’re happy for him.”
