Hamer Performances Impress Pearson

The former Charlton Athletic shot-stopper has made three appearances for City since joining from the Addicks in the summer, most recently making number of good saves in the .
When asked about Leicester’s No.12, Pearson explained that it has been Hamer’s ability to perform under pressure that has impressed him the most.
“It’s about him being able to do what he’s there to do,” said Pearson. “He’s played two league games for us and I think in both he’s dealt with the situation well.
“It’s never easy when you lose one of your most consistent top performers as we have Kasper [Schmeichel], but as I point out with all positions, it’s about players being ready for their opportunity, and when they get it they have to take it.
“Certainly, Ben comes out of both of his performances that he’s made so far with an awful lot of credit. He’s going to have to perform and that is the type of pressure players have to deal with.
“I’m pleased for him because managers don’t change the goalkeeper as much as they can change other positions. He’s proved to be very capable.”
Pearson also expressed the importance of having depth in his squad ahead of a string of tough festive fixtures that are certain to test his side to their limit.
City travel to Upton Park on Saturday and then play two league games in three days as before a trip to Hull City on Sunday 28 December.
“The Christmas period is always hectic,” Pearson added. “It’s an opportunity but let’s not look any further than Saturday at the moment.
“We’ll probably have to use the majority of the squad because of the closeness of the games but everybody has to deal with the same sorts of issues.
“Certainly for us we’re in need of positive results at the moment which have proved very difficult to come by. We could do with a couple of wins but I’m sure most managers and clubs are looking at the Christmas period in a very similar way.”
