Hopper: We Deserved More

Development Squad captain Tom Hopper says his side created enough chances to come away with all three points after drawing 3-3 with Southampton in the Barclays U21 Premier League on Monday.

Played at Nuneaton Town’s James Parnell Stadium, the Saints took the lead through Josh Sims, but a double from Nick Powell, who signed for the Foxes on a season-long loan from Manchester United in the summer, put City 2-1 up at half-time.
Despite Ryan Seager equalising for Southampton on the hour mark, Steve Beaglehole’s side regained the lead with just 15 minutes to play.
Frenchman Anthony Knockaert fired in from close-range as all the points looked to be heading Leicester’s way, but Seager struck again in the 90th minute, .
Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player after the draw, Hopper said: “We did some good things in the game and played some good football but the goals we conceded weren’t good.
“We’ve got to move on. Unfortunately we haven’t got a game for a while so this one will linger with us over the Christmas period.
“If you look back at the stats we dominated the game. We played some good football and could have probably put five or six past them.
“We all had chances. We all want to be more ruthless but we’d still like to think that scoring three goals would be enough to take three points home, which is frustrating for us.”
Taking the positives out of the game, the Academy graduate reflected on the good form of his side, citing in the U21 Premier League Cup last Tuesday as the only bad result in recent weeks.
“There’s positives to take – there always is,” Hopper added. “The good thing is we didn’t lose. It’s another valuable point.
“We’ve been playing some tough teams and we’ve picked up some good results. Apart from losing to Leeds last week, our last six games have been all good results.”
