Ten Leicester City players will be in senior international action in the coming days as Barclays Premier League football takes a short break.

Jamie Vardy’s status as the Premier League’s top scorer has seen him named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for two upcoming Euro 2016 Qualifying matches against Estonia and Lithuania.

Although England have already qualified, they will be keen to maintain their 100 per cent record in the Group, starting with the home tie at Wembley against Estonia on Friday 9 October, before a trip to Lithuania follows of Monday 12 October.

Also in Group E with England are Switzerland, who have named captain Gökhan Inler in their squad for two matches. The first is at home to San Marino on Friday 9 October and is followed by a Monday 12 October trip to Estonia. Four points from those two fixtures will guarantee their passage to Euro 2016.

Meanwhile in Group B, Andy King and Tom Lawrence’s Wales need just one point to secure qualification for Euro 2016, which will be their first major finals since the 1958 World Cup.

They have two chances to do that. The first is away to Bosnia Herzegovina on Saturday 10 October and is followed by a home game against Andorra on Tuesday 13 October.

While Andrej Kramarić and Croatia have a play-off place virtually confirmed, they are just two points adrift of second placed Norway and four behind leaders Italy in the automatic qualification spots.

First Kramarić and his team-mates face a home match against Bulgaria on Saturday 10 October before a trip to Malta on Tuesday 13 October – the same time as Italy and Norway face each other in what could be a key match for Croatia’s qualification hopes.

Qualification for Kasper Schmeichel and Denmark rests on a knife-edge with just one game remaining against Group I leaders Portugal.

The second placed Danes are three points adrift of top spot and one ahead of third placed Albania with just one game remaining – although the other two teams have two fixtures.

That leaves the Danes with a must-win match away to Portugal on Thursday 8 October, which is followed by a home friendly against France on Sunday 11 October.

Two matches remain for Austria and their captain Christian Fuchs in Group G, where all that remains is to complete the qualification campaign without losing, after sealing their spot at Euro 2016 last month.

The Austrians, who have won seven and drawn one of their eight games so far, face an away trip to Montenegro on Friday 9 October before heading home for a match against Liechtenstein on Monday 12 October.

In qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2018, Shinji Okazaki is in the Japan squad for a crucial match against Syria in Oman on Thursday 8 October. A win would see Okazaki’s second-placed team leapfrog Syria and take top spot in the group.

In-form Leicester City man Riyad Mahrez is set to be in friendly action for Algeria at home to Senegal on Tuesday 13 October while team-mate Jeffrey Schlupp has a trip to Washington DC with Ghana to take on Canada on the same date.

Finally, Development Squad striker Simonas Stankevicius is again in the Lithuania Under-21s squad for a double header of UEFA U21 Euro Championship qualifiers. They first travel to the Republic of Ireland on Friday 9 October before hosting Serbia on Tuesday 13 October.
