King Reflects On 'Extra Special' Achievement

In the wake of the greatest moment in Leicester City history, midfielder Andy King says he is still trying to get his head around the achievement.
- Leicester City's Premier League title victory is still sinking in for Academy graduate Andy King

- King has won the League 1, Championship and Premier League titles with Leicester City

- He is the first player to achieve the feat with one Club in the Premier League era

- King believes Leicester City will be a scalp next season as they defend their title

In the wake of the greatest moment in Leicester City history, midfielder Andy King says he is still trying to get his head around the achievement.

The Academy graduate has now lifted the League 1 trophy, Championship trophy and Premier League trophy as a Leicester City player in the space of just seven years.

No other footballer has done so with one club in the Premier League era, but it’s something that’s still sinking in for the midfielder, who fittingly scored in the 3-1 win over Everton before the Foxes lifted the trophy at King Power Stadium.

As the top scoring midfielder in Club history and a man who holds the phenomenal record of playing for Leicester in their lowest-ever league position as well as their highest, King admits that his feat means a little more having been achieved with Leicester.

<div ><br /><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">“I think it’s still struggling to sink in,” he told <a href="http://www.player.lcfc.com" target="_blank">Foxes Player HD</a>. “I thought it would do when we saw the pictures and the videos of us lifting the trophy but still when people say ‘you’re a Premier League winner’, it’s not sunk it and I think it will be a while until it does. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"To do it with this club is extra special and to be honest I don't know if that will ever be beaten. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"I can't see another team going down to League One and then coming back to win the Premier League, especially with the way the league is going and the amount of big clubs that are in the league now. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"That is going to be some record to try and beat and it is one that myself and my family are immensely proud of. "I don't see how that day can ever be beaten. Now we have to enjoy it because from the moment we come back for pre-season it is about trying to defend it.” </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><img xlink:href="tcm:0-3123947" title="king_480_LC7756_003" alt="king_480_LC7756_003" style="width: 480px; height: 300px;" /><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">City’s title win will go down as perhaps the greatest underdog story of them all, having begun the season as 5000/1 outsiders before eventually finishing top, but King is well aware that it will be a different matter altogether next term. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">He added: "Winning it is one thing but defending it will be a completely different ball game, with a lot of the big clubs getting new managers and teams getting a fresh start. They will be coming for us again and they will know what we are about. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"We are going to be a scalp next season so we need to make sure we are ready for that. But it is a season we should look forward to and having Champions League football here for the first time is an unbelievable achievement. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"I know as players we can't wait to get started. We have a great group of lads and we are very fortunate. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"I have said before we have not always had the team in the past where they will give 100 percent for the whole club rather than themselves. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">"There have been people in the past here who, if they haven't been playing, haven't really wanted to know. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">"I can, hand on heart, say every member of this squad will give 100 percent whether they are playing or not."</span></span></div><div><a href="http://www.player.lcfc.com" target="_blank"><img xlink:href="tcm:0-2692753" title="PlayerHD2015_Banner" alt="PlayerHD2015_Banner" style="width: 480px; height: 100px;" /></a><br /></div></div>
