King: We've Turned A Corner

Match winner Andy King is hoping that Leicester City’s 2-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday will be a watershed moment in their Barclays Premier League season.
King Power Stadium was awash with blue shirts as King’s 86th minute strike handed City all three points on an afternoon of huge significance in the battle for survival.

Over the course of the weekend, Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland both secured victories, while Burnley also picked up points, meaning the Foxes closed the gap to safety to six points with a game in hand.

West Brom are up next for City, but the confidence and momentum now with them according to King, who came off the bench to score the winner after Esteban Cambiasso’s opener.

“It’s a massive result for us and I thought we played really well, especially in the second half when I thought we were brilliant at creating chances,” King told Foxes Player.

“You can see the effort that everyone is putting in and it’s nice to have a performance and three points to go with it, which we’ve not always had this year.

“[The message when I came on was] to try and get behind the two frontmen. We changed the shape a little bit and it turned out to be a good change. We’re all buzzing, we played well and it’s good to get the three points.

“It gives us massive confidence. We’ve played well all season so to have played well and got the result is the most important thing. We know it’s about results at this stage of the season and we’ve still got a long way to go. Hopefully we’ve turned a corner and can really kick on now.”

Recalling his winning goal, King added: “I think the ball had kind of been bouncing around the box for a little bit, and I’m not sure who had the shot, but fortunately enough I was there to turn it in and obviously it’s an unbelievable feeling to get my first Premier League goal, but more importantly the three points for the team.”
