It was another successful outing on Thursday for Andy King’s Wales, who took a huge step towards qualifying for the 2016 European Championship Finals with a 1-0 win over Cyprus in Nicosia.

The Academy graduate completed 90 minutes in midfield for Chris Coleman’s men, who earned another three points and continued their unbeaten run in the group stages thanks to Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man headed in with eight minutes to play to ensure King’s nation remain top of Group B with 17 points from seven games. Winger Tom Lawrence, currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, was an unused substitute in the win.

Wales now need just three points to qualify for next year’s tournament in France, as they take on Israel in Cardiff on Sunday.

Earlier in the evening, Foxes striker Andrej Kramarić was an unused substitute in Croatia’s goalless draw with Azerbaijan in Baku. Kramarić’s side now sit second in Group H, just one point behind leaders Italy.

Meanwhile, young City defender Darnell Johnson made his debut for England’s Under-18s, coming on in the second half in their 2-0 win over Holland in Capelle.

City’s potential international involvement continues tomorrow when goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s Denmark take on Albania.
