LCFC Stars Set For International Duty

A total of 16 Leicester City players could take to the international stage over the next few days, as the final international break of the 2015/16 season takes place.
- Leicester City could have up to 16 players out on duty with their nations over the final international break of the season 

- Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kanté could both make their international debuts 

- Riyad Mahrez, Jeffrey Schlupp and Daniel Amartey may all be in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying action 

- Shinji Okazaki will hope to help Japan build on their unbeaten start to 2018 World Cup qualifying 

A total of 16 Leicester City players could take to the international stage over the next few days, as the final international break of the 2015/16 season takes place. 

The Foxes will again see a healthy international representation, with City’s Barclays Premier League campaign taking a two-week pause as the Club’s stars head out on duty with their nations. 

Danny Drinkwater could potentially make his debut for England in their international friendlies against Germany in Berlin on Saturday 26 March and Holland at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday 29 March. 

Alongside the City midfielder is Premier League joint top scorer Jamie Vardy, who could also be involved having netted 19 times for the Foxes this term. 

Another central midfielder in line for an international debut is N’Golo Kanté, who on Thursday afternoon was named in Didier Deschamps’ France squad. 

Les Bleus take on Holland on Friday 25 March in Amsterdam, before facing Russia at the Stade De France on Tuesday 29 March. Should Kanté be involved, he will be the first player to make an appearance for France while at the Foxes. 


City forward Riyad Mahrez, who has been involved in 27 Premier League goals for the Foxes this term, is again on international duty with Algeria for a double-header against Ethiopia. 


Algeria will be looking to extend their advantage at the top of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group J when they take on second-placed Ethiopia on Friday 25 March and Tuesday 29 March. 


Also potentially involved in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying could be Jeffrey Schlupp and Daniel Amartey, who are both away with Ghana. 


Ghana have won both of their opening Group H fixtures and too face a double-header, this time against Mozambique. They first clash on Thursday 24 March, and again on Sunday 27 March. 


Striker Shinji Okazaki – scorer of a spectacular overhead kick in the 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Monday – could see action for Japan in their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. 


Okazaki’s nation first host Afghanistan at the Saitama Stadium on Thursday 24 March, before another fixture at the same venue against Syria, as they look to build on their unbeaten start in Group E. 


City stopper Kasper Schmeichel is another Fox heading out on duty with his nation for Denmark’s international friendlies against Iceland on Thursday 24 March and Scotland on Tuesday 29 March. 


Denmark first take on Iceland at the MCH Arena in Herning and then head to Hampden Park to face Gordon Strachan’s Scotland. 


Defender Christian Fuchs, who skippered Austria to Euro 2016 qualification, could be involved in two friendlies for his nation over the international break. 


Fuchs’ men host Albania on Saturday 26 March and Turkey on Tuesday 29 March, with both matches taking place in Vienna, as Austria continue preparations for the summer. 


City skipper Wes Morgan helped his Jamaica side to the final of the Gold Cup for the first time in their history in 2015 and may again take to the pitch for the Reggae Boyz in the coming days. 


Jamaica twice face Costa Rica in a CONCACAF 2018 World Cup qualifier double-header, first in Kingston on Friday 25 March, then in San Jose on Tuesday 29 March. 


Striker Andrej Kramarić, currently on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, could see action for Croatia in their upcoming international friendlies. 


Ante Cacic’s men first host Israel on Wednesday 23 March, before heading to Hungary three days later in preparation for Euro 2016. 


Another City player that could be heading to Euro 2016 is forward Tom Lawrence, currently out on loan at Cardiff City. 


Lawrence’s Wales have two friendlies to contest over the international break as they face Northern Ireland on Thursday 24 March in Cardiff and Ukraine on Monday 28 March in Donetsk. 


Midfielder Andy King will sit out the two friendlies due to a . 


Meanwhile, England Under-21s duo Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell could also see action for the young Lions on Saturday 26 March in a friendly with Switzerland in Thun. 


Young City striker Harry Panayiotou, currently out on loan at Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers, is away with St. Kitts and Nevis as they contest the 2016 Caribbean Cup against Aruba on Friday 25 March and Antigua and Barbuda on Monday 28 March. 


Finally, Development Squad goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, who joined from Esbjerg in January, could see action for Denmark Under-19s, who take on Serbia on Thursday 24 March, France on Saturday 26 March and Montenegro on Tuesday 29 March, as part of their European U19 Championship qualifying campaign.
