Leicester City Community Trust DFDF (Disability) Programme

Leicester City Community Trust has been delivering a Disability Football Development Football (DFDF) inclusive programme across Leicestershire since September 2014.

The aim of the programme is to encourage more people to play football, not just in school, and link to local community settings outside of school so that playing can continue in a sustainable entity.
This is the second year of a three-year funding block, in partnership with the FA, Leicestershire and Rutland County FA/Inclusive Football Partnership, Leicester City Football Club and Ellesmere College.
The investment is to grow the provision in Leicestershire and Rutland to inspire more people to take up the beautiful game; something which can be enjoyed regardless of people’s age or ability.
The funding is used for a mixture of ages, young and old, that are not involved or have very little involvement in the game of football in their lives.
A 20-week coaching programme has been devised and delivered across the county in schools and community venues, where positive exit routes have been provided by the FA to continue their involvement in football and sport.
Various festivals and competitions have taken place to celebrate the success of the project and in May, a festival at King Power Stadium will cap off another year if DFDF delivery.
