Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel says the bond built at Belvoir Drive can been seen on the pitch after another Barclays Premier League victory, this time at Manchester City.

Schmeichel, who has helped the Foxes record eight clean sheets in the league so far this season, played a major role in his side’s outstanding 3-1 win at Man City on Saturday.

The Denmark international twice denied Sergio Agüero, while his point-blank save from Fernando four minutes after City’s second goal proved to be the most impressive against his former club.

Speaking of his side’s win at Etihad Stadium, Schmeichel said: “We are confident in every game we play and it has been the same mentality all season, one game at a time. That isn't going to change. It is about collecting points and accumulating as many as we can.

"Momentum is always important in football. We are playing well and very happy with the way things are going.

"We are not getting ahead of ourselves, we are keeping our feet on the ground because we know there is a long way to go.

"It is something that is a possibility in the long run, but we are not looking that far ahead. We are not thinking further than the next game."

City bagged their 15th Premier League win of the season – more than any side in England’s top flight – thanks to two goals from Robert Huth and a stunning solo effort from Riyad Mahrez.

"Riyad [Mahrez] is a top class player, and top class players are capable of special things and he is definitely that," Schmeichel added.

"He tries things in training and they don't always come off, but he scored a special goal [at Man City] and he thoroughly deserved it. Everyone is playing their part and he is playing his part along with everyone else.

"Robert [Huth] is a top defender. He is a joy to play behind. He doesn't over-complicate things. He knows what he is good at and does that very well.

"We have a squad that has been together for a while. We have been through some highs and lows, and that bonds you together. We all get along and that shows on the pitch."
