After becoming the first man in Leicester City history to lift the Barclays Premier League trophy, skipper Wes Morgan said his side’s champions status is only just starting to sink in.

The Foxes took to the field for the first time since they were confirmed as 2015/16 Premier League title-winners on Monday evening, as they dispatched Everton 3-1 in style at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Morgan and his men were at their best against the Toffees, as Jamie Vardy’s brace and a goal from Academy graduate Andy King sealed City their 23rd Premier League victory of the season.

It was a memorable occasion for the City captain, who has been an ever-present for Claudio Ranieri’s men in the league this term to lead them to their first-ever top flight title.

Speaking to Foxes Player HD after the win against Everton, Morgan said: “It’s the best feeling in the whole world. It’s just sinking in now – champions of England. To lift the trophy in front of your own crowd – I can’t describe the feeling.

“Last night (Friday) was probably the best sleep I had all week! I’ve been so tired with everything going off. It’s been a long day waiting for it. We had a fantastic result on the pitch and to seal it off with a trophy – I can’t ask for more!

“What a bunch of lads to lead. It was a prime example [against Everton] – we didn’t let our foot off the gas even though we knew we’d won and the championship was ours. We kept going and the boys were determined to put a show on for our fans and that’s what we did.”
