Morgan: We Kept Ourselves In It

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan says his side were disappointed not to get a positive result following their 2-0 Barclays Premier League loss to Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

The Foxes were undone on the stroke of half-time after David Silva slotted in a loose ball to put the Citizens into a one-goal lead at the break.
Winger Riyad Mahrez then rattled Joe Hart’s post in the second period, but it was James Milner who grabbed the decisive goal with just two minutes to play.
The England international swept home Jesus Navas’ cutback to seal all three points for the hosts to send Morgan and his men back to Leicester empty-handed.
“It was very disappointing and frustrating again,” the City skipper told Foxes Player. “We’ve come here knowing it won’t be easy. We’ve done a lot of defending throughout the game but we kept ourselves in it.
“We had a few chances and a few penalty shouts that didn’t go our way. If we played them on our own pitch then it might have been our day, but we didn’t and we can’t dwell on that.
“We did enough to get something out of the game – it’s just disappointing that we didn’t.”
Fully aware of the task at hand going into the clash with Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit, centre-half Morgan felt his side quashed much of the Citizens’ threat, but ultimately it was Silva’s instinctive reactions that broke the deadlock.
City's No.5 added: “We saw the board go up with one minute to go. It’s normal to say ‘keep it tight and go in at 0-0’, but it broke down in midfield and they countered on us.
“We’ve made a couple of good blocks but it fell kindly to him (Silva) and we went in 1-0 down at half-time, which is disappointing.
“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We were up against a side that have won the league. They’re one of the best teams in this division and we knew it was going to be a tough ask to come away with three points.
“We can’t be totally disappointed because we’ve given ourselves a good chance of winning the game. It wasn’t to be, so we have to move onto the next game.”
