Next Game Most Important For Pearson

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson says he is taking one game at a time ahead of the visit of Sunderland to King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes face two of the bottom seven sides in the Barclays Premier League over the next two weekends, first hosting the Black Cats before travelling to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers.
While Leicester hope to end their six-game winless streak, Gus Poyet’s side have enjoyed the month of November, beating Crystal Palace and drawing against Everton.
“They’ve got some quality players – there’s no doubt about that,” said Pearson. “I think they are a side people underestimate with the qualities that they have.
“For us this is our next opportunity – we do need to get back to winning ways for lots of reasons but certainly in terms of reigniting the confidence within our side – that’s always going to be a very important factor. Ultimately we want to get the right result regardless of how we play.
“Generally speaking, they are well organised defensively. We may have to be patient at times but we’ve got to try and play our own game as well, and that’s what we’ll endeavour to do. I can’t really tell you how the game will pan out.
“They’re probably a better side than people give them the credit. I’m sure they’ll be expecting a tough game from their perspective.”
And Pearson highlighted the attacking prowess of Sunderland top-scorer Steven Fletcher in particular, who has already netted four league goals so far in the 2014/15 campaign.
He added: “Their delivery from set-plays is very good. They’ve got quality in terms of being able to finish in people like Fletcher, who I believe will be available – he’s very dangerous in the box.
“We’ve got to make sure our concentration throughout is such that we are able to deal with his threats.
“They haven’t got a lot of electric pace but they’ve got some strong, experienced Premier League players and they’ve got an organisation that can at times make them difficult to break down.
“I’m just looking at it in isolation at the moment and that is it’s a game that we need to try and do everything we can to win it. I couldn’t predict whether Sunderland are going to be involved in the lower reaches of the Premier League all season – I think they’d have something to say about that.
“I know it’s just an important game for us because it happens to be the next game that we play at home. For the most part, our performances have been very good at home, and I expect the same again on Saturday.”
