Nugent: It’s Just Not Going For Us
Maurico Pochettino’s Spurs subsequently came away with all three points, but on another day it could have been a very different story, and City will need to take the positive aspects of their performance forward into next month’s home calsh with West Ham.
“[We were] very unlucky again. It was a bad start, going 2-0 down. Two rubbish goals, a set piece and a deflected shot. We fought hard, got it back to 2-2 and had a penalty decision go against us.
“For the last goal, Kasper Schmeichel made a save and it’s hit Jeff Schlupp and gone in. Then again we fought back – I got on the end of Vards’ (Jamie Vardy) flick to make it 4-3 – but in the end we’re all disappointed.
“We deserved more, everyone knows that. It just doesn’t seem to be going for us.”
Nugent was many people’s choice as City’s man of the match, having scored and set up Jamie Vardy for Leicester’s first goal – an excellent strike in itself.
He recalled: “I remember I played it around the corner to Leo Ulloa, he played it off to Jamo (Matty James) and I span in behind to play it across first time for Vards to finish on his left foot.
“He’s got two great feet and when it went in it gave us that platform to get back into the game. We got it back to 2-2 but in the end it wasn’t good enough.”
