Nugent: Keep Attacking

David Nugent is hoping to see Leicester City get their reward for attacking endeavour over the coming weeks after being denied points against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
It was a promising display from the Foxes at White Hart Lane, but despite scoring three times through Jamie Vardy, Wes Morgan and Nugent, they ended up courtesy of a Harry Kane treble.

Those four Spurs strikes included a deflection, a penalty and an own goal, leaving City players feeling frustrated not to secure a result in a game that they could certainly have won with a bit of luck.

It was a hard working display from the whole team, and Nugent is sure that the same approach will bear fruit soon. He told Foxes Player: “We went for it. We went attacking with Leo Ulloa coming in.

“He’s a strong lad and we needed him to hold the ball up and lay it off the Matty James and Esteban Cambiasso, then me and Vards (Jamie Vardy) running in behind.

“That worked so many times in the first half, we both had a couple of chances each. Vards has managed to score one and I’ve almost scored with a volley, I’ve had one cleared off the line, I’ve had a shot that went wide. Vardy’s had one too, so we’ve had chances.

“We scored three goals and when you come to White Hart Lane and score then you expect to be going away with three points too, but we’ve let ourselves down with the goals that we conceded.

“We’ve seen that we’ve created more chances than Tottenham and we should have got something from the game. When you’ve got me and Vards on the wings then you know what you’re going to get. That’s hard work, running in behind and running back defending.”
