Nugent Shows Youngsters The Way

Children in Blaby were given a special surprise during their half-term break when Leicester City star David Nugent turned up to inject some added excitement to an LCFC Community Trust course.
The event ran as part of a hugely successful football course programme that has drawn in huge numbers of football-mad youngsters across the county who are keen to both improve their skills and meet new friends.

Nugent spoke to the group of youngsters – including his own daughter – who were hanging off his every word before getting down to some football skills that were eventually mastered by all.

A fantastic afternoon was rounded off with medals and certificates for those who took part, and a chance to have a chat with Nugent before he left to continue his preparations for City’s clash with West Brom at the weekend – a game that they won 3-2!

Coach Adam Martin said: “It’s been fantastic. The kids have had a great day. David Nugent came out with his daughter and took part in a little skills session in the morning.

“They did loads of technical work and small-sided games. It’s just a really good day for them. Not only is it great for them to come down and play a lot of football, but also socially it leads to them making new friends, having healthy lifestyles and keeps them off their games consoles during half term.

“They seem to be getting more and more popular. We had 50 kids here, 50 at Guthlaxton and at Birstall we had 60. It just shows what good value the courses are and the kids absolutely love them.”
