Okazaki Features For Japan

- City striker’s nation win 3-0 thanks to goals from Keisuke Honda, Maya Yoshida and Shinji Kagawa

Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki helped Japan to a 3-0 victory over Cambodia in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match on Thursday in Saitama. 

The Foxes frontman, who netted his first goal for the Club in their Barclays Premier League win at West Ham United last month, came close to putting his nation in front with 18 minutes on the clock, dragging an effort across the face of goal. 

Japan took the lead shortly after thanks to AC Milan’s Keisuke Honda, before Okazaki again tried his luck, this time seeing his shot blocked deep in the Cambodia area. 

Southampton’s Maya Yoshida doubled Japan’s lead after the break before former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa made it 3-0 on the hour mark. 

Okazaki could next be involved when Japan face Afghanistan on Tuesday before the striker returns to Leicester for the Foxes’ Premier League clash with Aston Villa at King Power Stadium on Sunday 13 September. 

This evening could potentially see Andrej Kramarić involved in Croatia’s fixture against Azerbaijan in Baku, while Andy King could also feature for Wales, who take on Cyprus in Nicosia.
