Open Top Bus Tour Parade – Travel Information

Public Transport: 

All Park and Ride services in Leicester will run additional buses in the late afternoon, whilst the services will also be extended to help fans get back to their cars after the event has finished. The last Park and Ride buses will leave at 9.30pm – with Park and Ride tickets costing £3 for the day. 

On the day, Arriva will be helping fans to get into the City and Victoria Park by offering £1 tickets each way on their services to Leicester, from 2pm until the end of service. 

However, some bus routes on the day may be diverted as a result of road and carriageway closures. As a result of the parade, the following changes will be made to bus services throughout Leicester on the day of the parade: 

- Services which use London Road will divert via either St Peter’s Road, Welford Road or Chapel Street 

- Services which normally use Haymarket will not serve Churchgate or Causeway Lane 

- Services to and from the south of the City will use Southgates underpass whilst the parade is in the City Centre 

- Stagecoach Service 48 will not serve Horsefair Street or Charles Street 

Parking: 

Demand for parking on the day is expected to be high, and on the day street parking along the parade route and around Victoria Park will be suspended on the day. 

However, there is plenty of parking available within Leicester City centre, and the parking will operate as normal. Some of the car parks available for those visiting Leicester for the parade include: 

- Abbey Street NCP 

- Lee Circle 

- Welford Road NCP 

- Newarke Street 

- Highcross (John Lewis) 

There will also be parking available at the following City Centre car parks, although entry and exit from these will be restricted during the parade. 

- Rutland Centre NCP 

- St Nicholas Circle NCP 

- East Street NCP 

- Haymarket

- Highcross (Rooftop) 

It is also worth noting that on the day diversions will be around the road closures, these may affect your journey and we would recommend leaving plenty of time to travel in and around Leicester to ensure you are able to enjoy the parade. 

Road Closures: 

On the day the following roads will be closed at certain times: 

- London Road between St George’s Way and Mayfield Road – these roads will be closed between 6pm and midnight

- Victoria Park Road (from Queens Road to London Road) – will be closed between 6am and midnight

- The junction at Queens Road and Victoria Park Road will be closed between 6am and midnight 

- Granville Road – will be closed between 6am and midnight

- London Road – this will be closed late afternoon until midnight
