Following his side’s 3-1 win at Corby Town, Development Squad forward Harry Panayiotou hopes he can carry his fine form into the upcoming Barclays U21 Premier League season.

Steve Beaglehole’s outfit have won four of their last five fixtures, scoring an impressive 23 goals in what has been an excellent pre-season so far.

On target at Steel Park on Saturday was Panayiotou, who found the back of the net either side of goals from Callum Elder and Michael Cain.

Speaking to Foxes Player HD after the win, Panayiotou said: “We went 1-0 up, they equalised, but thankfully we went on to win it. We definitely deserved the result.

“They were good. It was probably the best pre-season game we’ve played. They were physical and they attacked us more than any other team have this pre-season.”

City open their 2015/16 Barclays U21 Premier League campaign with a home fixture against current champions Manchester United on Monday 10 August at King Power Stadium (7pm kick-off).

Optimistic ahead of the new season, Panayiotou added: “We’ve got some good youngsters in our squad. They’re good players and they’re settling in well.

“We’re just trying to push them forward for the Under-21s into the upcoming season. We’ve got a good squad going forward so I think we’ve got enough to beat Manchester United.

“I’m happy because I’ve scored four goals in pre-season now. Hopefully I can take it into the first game against Manchester United and get a few there as well.”
