Peake: Man City Caused Us Problems

Leicester City Under-18s manager Trevor Peake says Manchester City proved to be one of the most talented outfits his side have faced all season.

The young Foxes were beaten in the FA Youth Cup Semi-Final First Leg on Wednesday evening after a double from Aaron Nemane and strike from Denzeil Boadu.
City’s backline was breached twice in four first-half minutes before Nemane’s second goal in injury time handed Leicester a tough but achievable task of coming back from a three-goal deficit in the second leg at King Power Stadium on Wednesday 8 April.
“All credit to Manchester City,” Peake told Foxes Player after the defeat. “They certainly caused us a lot more problems than any other side have this season. They were worthy winners on the evening.
“We had a bit of a plan at the start of the game to drop off. They dominated the first half and went two goals up.
“In the second half we decided we would be better pressing further up the pitch. That plan went a lot better because we had more of the ball, which was great.
“Unfortunately we conceded that killer third goal at the end and when we kicked off, it was the end of the game.
“They’ve got some top-class individual players. They worked well as a team and an outfit. We knew what to expect. They were decent on the evening.”
A number league of fixtures are set to be played before the second leg as the Barclays U18 Premier League enters its second phase of the 2014/15 campaign, giving Peake’s youngsters plenty of time to regroup following Wednesday’s frustrating loss.
Peake added: “We’ll be reflecting for a while. We’ve got league games coming up in between the second leg, which are also important to the players’ development.
“We’ll try and come up with something for the game at King Power Stadium in early April to try and get back those three goals.”
