Pearson Gives Schmeichel Update

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel could be available for selection in the coming weeks, according to manager Nigel Pearson.

The Foxes travel to the Etihad Stadium for their Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday evening with no fresh injury worries and could soon welcome back the Danish international, who has been out of action since early December after breaking his metatarsal in training.
Meanwhile, defender Zoumana Bakayogo is City’s only other injury absentee and remains sidelined with a knee problem.
“We’ve more or less a fully fit squad,” said the City boss. “Kasper will be available in a week or so, hopefully. He’s doing very well. He’s back in full training. We’re not too bad. We’ve got a pretty fit squad to choose from.
“We’ve used the time off to give the players who need a bit more of a rest a rest. The training has been good. We’re looking forward to the game.”
The Foxes head to Manchester on the back of with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday 28 February.
It was a game in which City produced a performance that warranted all three points, but after taking the lead with 20 minutes to play, Pearson’s men couldn’t hold on for a crucial victory as Romelu Lukaku headed home in the dying stages.
Reflecting on recent results ahead of the clash with the Citizens, Pearson added: “We’ve been looking at our shape and also we’ve also been trying to build on some of the performances that we’ve had of late, in particularly at Arsenal and Everton.
“They’ve been very encouraging and we probably deserved to get more out of both of those games.
“From here on in there’s no getting away from the fact that we’ve got to get better results. We’ve got to get back to winning ways.
“The next game gives us a very tough test so it’s important that we’re positive, but also that we play as well as we can.”
