Pearson Upbeat About Squad Fitness

There was good news on the fitness front for Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash with West Ham United at Upton Park.

The Foxes travel to London on the back of a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend but will be buoyed by the news that striker David Nugent is back in training.
While Kasper Schmeichel and Zoumana Bakayogo continue their recovery from injury, defender Matt Upson, who is yet to make an appearance for City’s first team, won’t be available for the clash.
“David Nugent has trained with us today,” Pearson said. “We don’t really have any further injury updates. We’ve got a relatively fit squad.
“The long-termers are the same in Kasper Schmeichel and Zoumana Bakayogo. Matt Upson is not available for this game but hopefully will be soon.”
Pearson also spoke highly of this weekend’s opponents, praising their form in the 2014/15 campaign and their ability to switch their playing style if the game requires them to.
He added: “They’re a side in form. It’s always a really good atmosphere ground. He’s built a very competitive side and like I say, we have to make sure that our own game gives us a good chance of winning the game.
“To do that we have to deal with a number of players in form and they have the capability to mix the game up.
“They’re capable of playing out from the back but they also have some good options if they want to be slightly more direct.”
