Pearson On King’s Gifts

With two goals in his last three appearances for Leicester City, Andy King is undoubtedly a man in form and manager Nigel Pearson has paid tribute to the midfielder’s contributions.
The Academy graduate fired in a brilliant winner against West Ham to kick-start a three game winning run, and again displayed his knack of being in the right place at the right time by scoring the second in a 2-0 win over Swansea on Saturday.

If King plays against Burnley at Turf Moor this weekend it will be his 299th appearance in a Leicester City shirt, and the manager was quick to pay tribute to goalscoring midfielder.

“His performances are always very valuable,” said Pearson. “He’s a great example of a player who the fine lines of him between him being on and off the field really are fine lines.

“He has a genuine case to put forward each week. Bearing that in mind, for him to have been positive and ready for his chance when it came along, he doesn’t disappoint.

“The qualities that he brings as a player are valued very highly among the group of players that we have. Our fans recognise his contribution.”

But it’s not just his footballing qualities that Pearson values in King, who is a popular and key member of the squad.

He added: “His qualities as a person also come shining through. It’s not easy for players to stay on side for long periods of the season.

“At times he’ll be questioning what he has to do to get a run in the side. I’m really pleased that he’s had the impact that we all believe he’s capable of.

“His goalscoring record has always been pretty good. He’s a very capable player and he has a gift of being able to get into the right place. Hopefully that continues.”
