Pearson On Moore Blow

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has revealed that an ankle injury forced the withdrawal of defender Liam Moore midway through the first half of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Academy graduate and England Under-21s international made way for Marcin Wasilewski in the 26th minute at White Hart Lane, as the Foxes progressed to the last 16 of the competition.

It was a frustrating blow for Moore, who was looking to build on an excellent performance in the third round victory and clean sheet against Newcastle United, and speaking afterwards, the manager offered his sympathies.

“It’s an ankle problem,” Pearson told Foxes Player. “We’ll see [how long he’s out for]. It was a bit unfortunate for him.

“I think he did it in a block that he made initially and Liam is disappointed too because he gave away the penalty. He has had to be patient for his chance to get back into the side, and I feel for him that he wasn’t able to get a full performance in.”

However all three substitutes – Wasilewski, Marc Albrighton and David Nugent – had an impact on the match, which bodes well for the Foxes going into an important match at Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

Pearson added: “I thought Wasilewski was brilliant when he went on as well. It’s important that the players all contribute whether they’re on the pitch or not and we saw that against Tottenham.”
