Pearson On The Cambiasso Effect
A wonderful goal against West Ham was backed up by a vintage display from the 34-year-old to down the Hammers earlier this month, and another two victories against West Brom and Swansea City have followed.
Now the popular central midfielder is aiming to help his team-mates strike a blow in the relegation fight against Burnley, and his manager is delighted to have him on board.
“Since he’s been at the Football Club he's had a very positive effect,” said Pearson of his no.19. “In the early days it was very much a case of players having an understanding of what he’s done in the past and having a player coming to a Football Club like ourselves.
“In some ways it was a bit of a coup, but the most important thing throughout it all is his desire to have an impact in a positive fashion on our season.
“He’s become more acclimatised to the English game and I suppose we’ve been able to utilise his strengths. He’s had nothing but a positive effect.
“The very fact that he’s talking about this being a big season in his career, is testament to the sorts of desire and level of commitment that he has at his age.
“Having said that, he’s won so much, he possibly wouldn’t have been in this situation before. He’s warmed very much to the challenge. He trains and plays every game with a level of professionalism that I think is very, very commendable.”
