Pearson Wants Ruthless Foxes

After Saturday’s grandstand finish against West Ham United at King Power Stadium, Nigel Pearson wants Leicester City to take their attacking approach into the remaining Barclays Premier League games.
Argentine Esteban Cambiasso opened the scoring for City before Chiekhou Kouyate levelled matters before the break. It wasn’t until the 86th minute that the Foxes were able to secure the win, as Andy King turned the ball home and sent the home fans wild.

Pearson’s side gave everything to the cause, and it’s that same approach that the manager hopes will help see them continue to claw back the six-point gap to safety between now and the end of the season.

“At 1-1 we went to 3-4-3, which is a big risk in some ways,” reflected Pearson. “But I’ve got to be honest with you I’d rather lose a game trying to win it.

“A point at this stage in our season, if you score an equaliser in the final minute of added time then you can look at it as a point gained, but in the situation that we’re in, we’d rather lose trying to win.

“That’s always difficult to strike the balance with, because every goal and game will be important. “I think the players are up for the challenge as they have been for the whole of the season.

“We’ve not always had the breaks that we would have liked, but those things are now irrelevant. Things that have gone before are now irrelevant, and we’ve got to make things happen for ourselves here on in, that’s the most important thing.

“If we play with the commitment we have against West Ham, Spurs and Hull and countless other games, then we’ll give ourselves a realistic chance of playing in the Premier League next season.”
