Pearson: We’re Capable Of Better
Marcin Wasilewski’s late header – his first goal for the Club – raised faint hopes of a comeback, but it proved to be too late for City, who although buoyed by other results going in their favour, must regroup against Crystal Palace next weekend.
Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player at full-time, Pearson reflected: “We didn’t really play well enough in the first half in the way that we managed the ball.
“When you defend for long periods like we had to, we couldn’t really use the ball well enough. Having said that I don’t really have too many complaints in that we played against a very good side who have an awful lot of quality. But we’ve got to be better than that, and we were in the second half.
“Players who went on made a difference. We’ve got to start these games slightly better, and it’s disappointing because we’re capable of better performances than we showed in the first half.
“When you’re 3-0 down, it’s important that you get some sort of stability. We didn’t want to go caution to the wind and get on the end of a heavy defeat, so it was going to be important for us to try and stay in the game.
“As the game went on we certainly caused them a few more problems, and every goal was important.
“I’m pleased for Was (Marcin Wasilewski). He’s waited a long time to get off the mark and we have got to make sure that our performance against Palace is better than we showed today, and I’m certainly not taking anything away from Manchester United. They are a very good side with quality in their ranks and we can’t really have too many complaints today.”
