Ranieri: Play Like Champions

- City conclude their stunning season on Sunday at Stamford Bridge – the home of the 2014/15 champions 

- The City boss explained how his side felt the backing of the Blue Army throughout the season 

Manager Claudio Ranieri wants his Leicester City side to show exactly why they were named Barclays Premier League champions when they head to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday.

The Foxes will round off their remarkable Premier League campaign at the home of the 2014/15 champions, as they hope to record their 24th league win of the season. 

The 3-1 victory over Everton at King Power Stadium last weekend gave City’s stars the chance to prove exactly how far they’ve come this term and Ranieri wants his players to put on a similar show at Stamford Bridge. 

“[Against Everton] I asked to them to show me what we learned during all the season,” Ranieri said. “Always I’ve said it’s not important the result, but it’s important the performance, how you play. 

“Now we are champions, we have to play like champions. The answer was fantastic. On Sunday, I don’t want the result, I want to see my players show the same attitude and I am happy.” 

And Ranieri went on to explain the vital role the Club’s supporters played in one of the most unlikely title victories in footballing history. 

He added: “I don’t have words to say thank you. They support us. Now it’s easy now we’re champions. There were behind us at the beginning, when we suffered a lot. When we were 2-0 down they pushed and pushed. 

“At home and away, we always felt their support. I think if this dream was real, it’s because the fans push and play with us. We play every match with 12 men, not 11 on the pitch.”
